Can the Internet Be Your HR Department?
On-line HR is the future
posted by PEO Advisor on July 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM PST
Great article from Steve Rosenthal here. Steve's comments about the tremendous advantages of using a web based HRMS (Human Resources Management System) are right on the money. Although it was mentioned, I think it bears repeating that engaging an HR outsourcing company offers client companies instant access to state of the art HRMS systems. Traditionally companies have struggled to implement their own version of a HR software platform; either custom built (heaven help us!) or off the shelf software like Great Plains or Quickbooks. These were (and are) great products for a small business to cover the basics. However, once a company grows much beyond 15 employees these products may become inadequate. At that point the next level of software products to handle the HR function becomes much more expensive to acquire and sustain. Many companies in the past were faced with this dilemma and were forced to build an IT infrastructure (hardware, software, upgrades, expensive personnel) just to be able to get the job done. Nowadays, outsourcing the HR function to a company that specializes in the HR area, allows business owners to get state of the art integration with government agencies (for taxes), benefit providers (for premium remittance, open enrollments, etc.) and a host of additional HR services like recruiting and sexual harassment prevention training. All without major IT investment. Top HR solutions providers not only have the systems, they have an array of products that are all integrated into the single interface available for their clients. When examining the vendors in the marketplace who can deliver a state of the art HRMS, many also offer access to insurance products (like health insurance and workers’ compensation insurance coverage) as well as an array of HR service offerings. For a comprehensive listing of the HR outsourcing solutions available in the marketplace, potential clients may want to visit http://www.staffmarket.com who maintains a national listing of HR outsourcing service providers.
