Dear Colleagues,
For more than a decade Efefiong Akpan sought to actualise his dreams of being in the broadcast media. The fact he went through pains to be Scriptwriter-Producer finally in 2001 despite his enormous artistic talents speaks something about the futility with many Nigerians struggle to have self actualisation. Afterall being TV person would not be such a big deal if talents are recognised just on time. He had wandered into the sciences earlier, and was a brilliant student afterall.
A personal experience will show that in Nigeria, media professionals among others have suffered deprivation in the hands of private ownership especially. The media professional is banned from unionism, despite being underpaid, he is attacked sometimes when he reports facts that bother authorities; and invariably lives under very harsh economic realities just like other Nigerians.
The bottom line is that corruption which the media professional must investigate and report has become a way of life. Therefore misappropriation of popular good simply negates general and popular welfare. Afromedia Organisation, founded on the essence of humanism in developement is focused on investigating these social realities not with antagonism of the system. But to document reality on ground and seek popular opinion. In doing so Afromedia will mobilise the population to recognise government programmes and be involved especially in the current de-regulation of the social economy. The organisation seeks their organisation and mobilisation of the people through media programming. To empower and cause prosperity thus enabling social and democratic stability.
Afromedia Organisation with its affiliate firm Sixfei Communications will do these through sponsored campaigns: broadcast announcements and programming called "The Triangle of Benefits." This will happen among an unburdened government, empowered Organised Private Sector and the greater majority of Nigerians. This government has already started. Defined thus:
Programme: Televsion/Radio.
Genre: Docu/Presentational
Theme: Economic Empowerment
Subject: The Creative Nigerian
Subject
Matter: Economic Empowerment of the Creative Nigerian.
Title: The Triangle Of Benefits
Duration: 30 - 60mins
Target: The Creative Nigerian for the greater masses.
Premise:
The creative Nigerian mobilised, empowered and taught
conceptual management should employ the less endowed majority, from amongst which other creative generations shall emulate; so that government could guarantee financing from national and international corporations, after abdicating control of the firmament of business; - the programme on television and radio will be done to inform and educate the greater masses. We solicit advice and funding as networking will start very soon.We also will be sending some of our works to intereseted persons and organisations as testimonials
NB:
Basically we believe in mobilsing the mass of Nigerians to free their creative potentials through media campaigns
