We've covered the concept of self-SEO -- both for yourself and your small business -- several times recently -- see here and here.

Over at Marketing Pilgrim, there's a great list of ten ways to avoid a Google reputation management nightmare. Says the post:

Of course, it’s near on impossible to make a negative Google result simply disappear—although there are some black-hat SEOs that claim to have that gift. Instead, your best approach is to provide Googlebot with a healthier diet of web content that shows your reputation in a positive light.

On that note, here are my recommendations for the best web content to fill up the first page of Google results.

The site goes into depth on ways to get the content *you* want to hit the top of Google, but here's a sneak peak at their extremely useful top 10 list:

1. Get your own web site.
2. Start a blog.
3. Add a sub-domain.
4. Create a social networking profile.
5. Create your own social network.
6. Create a business profile.
7. Share your photos.
8. Claim your identity.
9. Create your own Wiki.
10. Get a free page from Google.

How many of these steps have *you* taken?
