BellSouth and AT&T (the renamed SBC) have launched YellowPages.com. The nationwide local search engine combines SBC's SMARTpages.com and BellSouth's ReadPages.com. This creates a geographically wide and well-trafficked site in the highly competitive online yellow pages category. The interface enables local searches by keyword, business name or business type. There will be an extensive cross-media advertising campaign for YellowPages.com, which is expected to benefit from the brand-recognition of its name.
