The The Yankee Group has released three surveys aimed at assessing the landscape for companies with two to 1,000 employees. Key findings across the surveys were that spending on information technology ranged from $16,500 for two- to 19-employee companies to $821,000 for companies with 500 to 1,000 employees. More than 60 percent of the companies said software-as-a-service lowered expenses and increased productivity. More than 60 percent manage their own data due to privacy and security concerns. Key issues for SMBs are security, backup, high implementation time, lack of IT staff and concerns that one upgrade will necessitate others.
