IBM has introduced a licensing program aimed at helping venture capitalists bring their startup clients' products to market more quickly. IBM Ventures in Collaboration will give VCs and their portfolio companies access to more than 40,000 IBM patents. Participating startups also will get access to the technology supporting the patents. This, IBM says, will stimulate innovative thinking. The initiative consists of two cross licensing agreements. One is optimized for early stage companies with less than $10 million in revenue, while the other focuses on those that have passed that revenue milestone.
