Holiday online spending exceeded last year's by about 30 percent, according to an annual study by Goldman, Sachs & Co., Nielsen//NetRatings and Harris Interactive. The study, the fifth the companies have conducted, said that holiday online spending besides travel was about $30.1 billion. The most online money--$5.3 billion--was spent on apparel/clothing. Computer hardware and peripherals was second, at $4.8 billion. The growth of126 percent between this holiday season and last was the most the researchers found. Filling out the top five were consumer electronics (also at $4.8 billion), books ($3 billion) and toys/video games ($2.3 billion).
