I am a Belgian citizen, 20 years permanent resident in South Africa, and a developer. At the moment I am looking at a project in Maputo, to build a 207 room middle class hotel. Currently there are only VIP hotels in Mozambique, and I see a gap in the market when it comes to accomodation for the holiday makers and business representatives from South Africa. The general occupation rate according to the Tourism Board is 70%.
To date I obtained 6 hectare of land in Maputo (Matola district), and I am in the possession of council approved architectural and engineering drawings. A company has also been registered in Maputo for this purpose.
Currently I am negociating tax concessions with the Mozambican Government. Building could commence early in 2005.
The size of the land allows for future development, such as conference facilities, restaurant, recreation establishments and shops.
Financially I can partly start the building works as collateral.
I am looking for finances of about $ 3.400.000 or entering in a partnership with a strong financial partner(s), or alternatively at selling off the whole concept to an interested party. I am open to any negotiable deal, maybe combining the above.
