| Question concerning Contracting |

I have just gotten a business license for resale business and have decided that I would like to go into jewelry manufacturing. At this time my business is operating at a net loss (start-up costs) and cannot afford to hire employees to manufacture products, due to workers comp and other insurances needed. Is there some way that instead of hiring as employees I could contract people promising a percent of profits, stating high risks of not receiving payment due to no sales, and also get around not paying workers compensation insurance myself? Is this legal and how would I go about tax reporting if so?
