Judith Kallos
The IStudio
Principal

An established expert in online communications, Judith Kallos has appeared on TV, radio and in print across the globe. She is most known for her site NetManners and her book Because Netiquette Matters! Your Comprehensive Reference Guide to E-mail Etiquette and Proper Technology Use. Judith also runs a unique eStore, Learn and Thrive, which offers products that help onliners acquire the necessary knowledge and skills they will need to thrive online.

Before what Kallos calls the "Webolution," she worked for one of the top Japanese electronic component companies for 13 years, eventually holding the titles sales engineer and account manager for Motorola and RCA.

In early 2002, she was featured in syndicated radio host Dr. Laura's magazine Perspective in regard to communicating online. Earthlink dubbed her "Miss Manners for the Digital Age" when recommending NetManners.com to their subscribers.

Her new book, Because Netiquette Matters is a Comprehensive Reference Guide to E-mail Etiquette and Technology Use.

Dos and Don'ts of Signature Files
Sig files put potential customers one click away from your site. Poor execution, however, can make the sender look over eager, inappropriate or—if the link doesn't work—inattentive to detail. MORE
Ten Online New Year's Resolutions
The ball has dropped, the confetti has been swept up and people are returning to work. Now is the time to identify ways to improve the way you do business. There is no better place to start than email, since a little bit of attention will go a long way toward creating a better image. MORE
Don't Brush Off Email Privacy
Displaying all the recipients' addresses in an email blast is inapprorpriate and disrespectful. Luckily, there is an answer: Use the "BCC:" field. In some programs, finding "BCC:" is tricky, but doing the right thing generally pays off. MORE
Quality the Key to Search Engine Results
You can pay for good search engine placement. But startups and small businesses can achieve great results by following a few guidelines. The most important: Have quality content that sets you apart from your competitors. MORE
Business Email Basics
Do you think that online etiquette is boring? If you do, think again. When given a choice, potential partners and customers don't do business with people they don't like or trust. Being polite and paying attention to detail can go a long way to building relationship that will result in sales. MORE
Are You Having Fun Yet?
Technology is an enabler, but the true secret of a successful startup and small Web business has little to do with bits and bytes. It's simply to have fun. And, for these types of businesses, there is no place that lends itself to a good time than the Internet. MORE
The Seven Deadly Myths of Online Copyrights
The prevalent attitude that copyright laws don't apply to the Internet is wrong. Using materials inappropriately can lead to big problems. Small and startup business owners need to be careful about how they access content that belongs to other sites. The laws are complex, but the solution is simple: Ask permission. MORE
